Alarming Footage Shows Point Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman who rushed to the help of a partner that was assaulted by a knife attacker has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Officer attacked," the officer stated over his radio.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera video shared by the force depicted Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife extended.
He ran into the officer who lost balance and went down to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground even though being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and waited for a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Can I get help on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his neck and further wounds to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.
The department reported Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stop his partner's blood loss before medical personnel arrived.
The latest award arrives after the trio of policemen won organizational Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the regional Police Federation in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Valor Recognition in summer 2024.
"The responses of the entire team ultimately saved themselves and meant no members of the public suffered any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
