Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
