Marnus Labuschagne Omitted from Australian ODI Squad to Face India
The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from Australia's three-match ODI series against India, with high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a unexpected call-up.
Performance Issues Lead to Exclusion
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international squad after being dismissed for one in his two batting efforts during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a best innings of 47 in his last 10 ODI innings.
Labuschagne has played 68 one-day internationals and scored 1,871 runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now focus on earning a return to the Test side in time for the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.
Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Updates

Mitch Marsh will lead both the ODI and T20 sides after scoring a hundred in the last match against New Zealand to clinch a two-nil victory last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the later stages of the series as players get ready for the cricket season through domestic first-class matches,” selection chief George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India commences on 19 October in Perth, before the opponents play five T20 internationals from October 29.
