Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, as confirmed by the royal household.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.
Father and son were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Commitment
King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the UN meeting.
Palace insiders have described the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were greeted participants featuring environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This participation included speaking alongside French leader Macron of France and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.
