Trump Organization Sought to Hire Almost 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this period, while his government was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the same, an analysis published Thursday stated.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to hire at least 184 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the US president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of applications for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the record filed by the organization, and increased from 121 in 2021, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had attempted to hire over a hundred foreign employees for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a tightening on legal immigration by his government that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and tighter regulations for foreign students and reporters.

In total, the business sought to employ 566 overseas workers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, the former president was questioned by certain in the GOP this week for remarks defending the need for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a country is entering, going to invest $10bn to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in five years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he stated to a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers lower the wages of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the business did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
